Catatan Ringan. Cabai apa yang paling pedas? Cabai Hiyung adalah cabai rawit (Capsicum frustescens) yang tumbuh di desa Hiyung Kecamatan Tapin Tengah Kabupaten Tapin Kalimantan Selatan. Cabai hiyung adalah cabai paling pedas se Indonesia, kadar capsaisinnya mencapai 802,45 ppm (part per million), kandungan vitamnin C sebanyak 763,52 ppm, vitamin A 11,83 IU/100 gram, protein sebanyak 5,83 persen. Tanaman ini apabila ditanam di daerah lain akan berbeda kualitas pedasnya.
Masih ada cabai yang lebih pedas dari cabai hiyung, yaitu Moruga Scorpion (2.009.231 SHU), Trinidad Scorpion (1.400.000 SHU) dan Naga Viper Inggeris (1.382.111 SHU). SHU adalah ukuran pdasnya cabe, Scoville Heat Unit.
