Air dan Minyak Bisa Bersatu

Catatan Ringan. Kalau kita menuangkan minyak ke air maka akan tampak air dan minyak tidak bersatu, berat jenis air yang lebih berat akan mengambil posisi di bawah minyak yang berat jenisnya lebih kecil dari air. Sampai sampai penomena ini menjadikan peribahasa atau perumpamaan dua orang/kelompok yang tidak bisa akur diibaratkan seperti air dan minyak.
Benarkah air tidak bisa bercampur dengan minyak? Sebenarnya ada campuran air dan minyak yang bisa bersatu yaitu santan. Santan adalah campuran antara air dan minyak yang sempurna. Untuk memisahkan keduanya diperlukan proses destilasi. Seperti orang membuat minyak kelapa, dimana santan di panaskan sampai titik didih air, sehingga airnya akan menguap dan tersisa minyak dan tahi lala. Minyak memiliki titik didih yang lebih tinggi dari titik didh air sehingga minyak mendidihnya belakangan setelah air mendidih dan menguap menjadi gas (uap air). Titik didih air 100 derajat celcius dan titik didih minyak 150 derajat celcius.
Kenapa air yang dimasukkan dalam minyak panas akan terjadi letupan-letupan? Karena perbedaan titik didih kedua jenis benda cair itulah hal tersebut terjadi. Minyak panas yang sudah melebihi titik didih air tentu saja akan menguapkan air yang dimasukkan dengan sekejap, maka saat itu volume air akan memuai jua, dengan kecepatan memuai tersebut maka air meletup-letup saat berubah dari cair menjadi gas.
